BAY COUNTY, Fla. - Northwest Florida Beaches International made a big move Wednesday morning to increase aircraft storage space. They approved a project for a second airport hangar in Sheltair's general aviation section of the airport.
The hangars are used currently for aircraft storage but could be used for things like maintenance services. The facility will be located at the South end of their space, and be 22,000 ft. in size, which is double the size of the current hangar. Sheltair said their only hangar now is 100 percent occupied so this addition will be a game changer.
"A lot of our customer base here is transient to the resort nature of Panama City and we have a lot of customers that have second homes in the market that are looking to keep their airplanes stored here while they are here on vacation or visiting their second home.," said Sheltair's General Manager Michael Lerma.
They plan to break ground in the next few months. The project will cost $2 million and will be funded entirely by Sheltair.
